First round:

• Election day: 15 January 2006
• Advance voting in Finland: 4 to 5 and 7 to 10 January 2006
• Advance voting abroad: 4 to 7 January 2006
• The presidential candidates are confirmed on 15 December 2006
• The candidate applications must be submitted by 7 December 2006 before 4 p.m.
• According to the information in the Population Information System on 25 November 2006, the Population Register Centre compiles a voting register on 30 November 2006

Second round

• Election day: 29 January 2006
• Advance voting in Finland: 18 to 24 January 2006
• Advance voting abroad: 18 to 21 January 2006

The result of the second round is confirmed on 1 February 2006 and the Council of State states the result of the vote on 2 February 2006.
